We established the Elite Wine Academy as an adjunct to our consulting services because we believe that anyone involved with either drinking or serving wines can benefit greatly from the right type of wine education. The need for wine education, that is practical, reaches far beyond the wine trade and the Industry it serves. We found that so much of modern day wine education fails to deliver practical wine knowledge that the average consumer and trade professional needs until the more advanced levels. Much of it consist of either an endless colection of facts or is so encumbered with extraneous information, that it becomes incomprehensibe to the average learner. The competition for information storage within the human brain is quite intense for most learners and thus the need for a more concise and focused learning experience. My favorite teachers and professors in school were those that could keep the subject matter concise, logically ordered and cogent that led to a more progressively cohesive learning experience, giving me the ability to wrap my head around fundamental concepts and use them as building blocks for better comprehension and retention of more detailed and complex information. Even many of the formal training organizations, while presenting substantial information in their courses, have, in my opinion, unnecessary content, while missing core material that we believe weaves a more cohesive understanding for the typical student of wine. So, we designed our own educational program that delivered all of the practical knowledge that both consumers and trade personnel would need to navigate the subject successfully. As a result, we believe that we have put together a more comprehensive and cogent education package that better captured the true "core" material of an increasingly complex subject that is unclutered by unnecessary data and "test material".
